Founded in 2003 by artist Shepard Fairey (who gained global notoriety this year for his Obama “Hope” design), Studio Number One has built a reputation as one of today’s most influential creative agencies in the country. Describing themselves as a “firm where art and design bridge the gap between culture and enterprise,” Studio Number One reflects the mission of the 1800 Tequila Essential Artists series.

In addition to Studio Number One, eleven artists nationwide contributed work to create the series of 12 bottles. New York, N.Y. – Proximo, a leading marketer of premium spirits in the United States, announced today the launch of an aggressive new advertising campaign for 1800 Silver Tequila, which sparked the luxury tequila trend and is now setting out to reclaim the top spot in the super premium tequila category.
Featuring The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli, the spots call attention to the fact that tequila has lost its way, becoming an overpriced and pretentious spirit. In a series of spots, Imperioli brandishes his signature tough guy image, poking fun at Patrón while noticing one brand that sets itself apart – 1800 Tequila.

The campaign, created by Agent16, an award-winning New York-based boutique advertising agency, is the brand’s first venture into television advertising. The aggressive tone of the spots – calling out Patrón for the top position in the premium tequila category – illustrates how 1800 Tequila will assert itself as the leading brand of Silver tequila.
The new $15 million ad campaign is set to debut on September 14th on top cable channels including ESPN and Comedy Central. NY-based digital agency Special Ops Media is handling the online execution of the campaign which includes development of interactive, expandable rich media for placement on Sports Illustrated.com and Yahoo! Sports, showcasing the complete collection of television spots, to round out a full television, print, online, and out-of-home campaign.

Rosangel, the world’s first-ever hibiscus-infused tequila continues to blossom with recent accolades from industry leaders and strong consumer sales growth. Since the product’s launch in February, Rosangel has wowed mixologists, bartenders, spirits insiders and the tequila-drinking public with its fresh approach to infused tequila and delicious, versatile flavor profile.

In April, at the 2009 San Francisco World Spirits Competition – the largest spirits competition in the U.S. – Rosangel was honored with a Double Gold medal in the flavored-spirits category. Strong sales have been the proof in the pudding for how well Rosangel has been received by consumers. In its first month on the bar and on shelves, Rosangel ranked second on the Nielsen rating of new UPCs in the spirits category besting a number of other tequilas and infused spirits.

KV Racing Technology today announced that Azul Tequila, will sponsor KV Racing Technology during the 2009 Indianapolis 500, May 24, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.

Mario Moraes, who qualified seventh for this year’s Indy 500, will pilot the #5 Azul Tequila – Votorantim – KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone entry. The talented Brazilian had a fantastic qualifying run recording an average speed of 223.331 mph. He will start the 2009 Indy 500 on the inside of Row #3.
Moraes is in his second IndyCar season and first with KVRT. He will be contesting his second Indianapolis 500 and just his 12th race on an oval. Moraes made his IMS debut last year qualifying 28th and finishing 18th. He ran a solid race and was running at the finish completing 194 of the 200 laps, to place 18th in his baptism at Indy. Moraes also led his first laps (3) in IndyCar Series competition.
Moraes is coming off a solid tune-up for the Indy 500. Three weeks ago in Kansas he qualified an IndyCar career-high sixth and finished 11th, his second highest career performance on an oval. Moraes completed all 200 laps in Kansas and now sits 19th in the championship standings with 43 points. In 11 previous oval events, Moraes has a best showing of 10th last year in Nashville (career best finish is seventh on the Watkins Glen road course also in 2008).

Inspired by Rosangel, the first-ever hibiscus infused tequila, Julie Reiner, owner of Flatiron Lounge, NYC, and Clover Club in Brooklyn, created her own delicious cocktail to share:
The Rosangel™ Ruby Fizz
Ingredients:
2 ounces Rosangel Tequila
½ ounce Agave Syrup
½ ounce Ruby Port
1 bar spoon Pomegranate Molasses
¾ ounce Lemon Juice
½ ounce Egg WhitePreparation:
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a highball glass with one large ice cube. Top with Club Soda and garnish with a cherry.Rosangel Tasting Notes:
Rosangel yields a complex, perfumed nose with ripe fruit and floral notes, plus hints of vanilla. The palate holds flavors of dried fruits, which leads to a smooth and gentle finish. Like all Gran Centenario Tequilas, Rosangel is made of the finest, sweetest, highest quality 100% Highland blue agave, chosen after a generous life of 10 to 12 years, beyond the usual eight years for other tequilas. The hearts of the agave are baked for up to 72 hours in traditional clay ovens to guarantee that even the subtlest flavors of the agave remain. After the resulting liquid is fermented and distilled, it rests in new French Limousin white oak barrels for a minimum of 10 months, after which it is blended with a small amount of older Tequila reserves for character and balance. To make Rosangel, the Reposado tequila is further rested for two months in Port barrels, which imparts Rosangel’s sunset pink hue and deepens the complexity of its flavor. Finally, the liquid is infused with the natural flavor of delicately sweet Mexican Hibiscus flowers, a staple in Mexican culture and cuisine. Proximo Spirits, Inc. and 1800 Tequila have announced an international campaign, commissioning nine artists to design limited edition bottles for the premium tequila brand. “Essential Artists” allows for up-and-coming artists to showcase their visions on a unique medium, offering an exciting perspective both in the art world and beyond.
A unique mix of palette and palate, Essential Artists celebrates the talents of artists from the United States and Mexico. In recent years, tequila has emerged as the discerning drink du jour, appearing on many of the premier cocktail menus in the country and winning over discriminating young moderns with its clean flavor and unmistakable kick. With the launch of Essential Artists, 1800 encourages tequila drinkers to tap into their artistic side.
The nine artists commissioned to design these collectible limited edition bottles include Jorge Alderete (Mexico City), Glenn Barr (Detroit), Will Chambers (Chicago), Chris Dean (Detroit), Kim Dosa (Atlanta), Josh Ellingson (Oakland), Hannah Stouffer (Oakland) and Urban Medium (Atlanta).
